The Things You Can See Only When You Slow Down

a pair of geese flew by; outside my studio window; i’m glad elephants don’t fly

Saw this from the corner of my eye the previous day

It’s a beautiful day in the neighbourhood. On my way back from the barbershop through the woods on Red Clay Trail, as I came out of the trail I noticed this from the corner of my eye. I like very much. Came back the next morning to paint it.

Walnut Street Bridge over Red Clay Creek

It’s a beautiful day in the neighbourhood. Sun setting on Walnut Street Bridge over Red Clay Creek. There is plenty to paint within a few hundred feet from my studio. I only need to be attentive to what the land has to share.

This tree with the bleached bark

It’s a beautiful day in the neighbourhood. It is the first day of spring. Around the corner on Race and Cypress Streets. What is this specie of tree called? For 4 years I have thought that this tree on Race and Cypress Streets was dead. I have been itching to make a painting of this tree since moving to Kennett Square in 2014. I often asked myself how do I paint this tree because there are so many things going on around it, and while I was painting, so many gnats doing their midair courtship around my face. Anyway, here it is.
