The Things You Can See Only When You Slow Down

a pair of geese flew by; outside my studio window; i’m glad elephants don’t fly

back to the open field

I see a few things in the painting that I might like to adjust. Even as it is, I am still pleased with this painting.

A few years ago, I seed-bombed this open field. I was hoping to see a visual feast of native flowering plants blanketing this field. I think I noticed a few unfamiliar flowering plants, but I am not sure if they were from the seeds I have scattered. Maybe next year. Fingers crossed.

on again off again, but it will get there

this painting has been on the wall and off the wall, in storage and out of storage, on the easel and off the easel for the past two years. it’s back on the easel for some edits. to my eyes, i see more needed edits but i will leave them for some other time. otherwise i am quite please with how it is evolving.

More paintings from around the corner

It’s a beautiful day in the neighbourhood. I am continuing with the series I started in 2014, It’s a beautiful day in neighbourhood, Around the Corner.

The weather is becoming chilly, and even though there are days when it is comfortable for me to paint outside I am shifting to painting in my comfortable studio using references that I have gathered on sketchbook, and on camera.

For better or for worse, my adopted neighbourhood is changing and I want to make paintings of the different places in the neighbourhood before they will either be demolished or changed into something else. There are too many places that we take for granted, and before we realise it, they are relegated to memories of the past and perhaps even sorely missed. Ah, those were the days, we will fondly say with nostalgia. Alas nothing stays to same.

Here are six of my personal favourites that I recently did. Many of my paintings are of places not far from my studio. I seldom wander far from my studio before I see something to paint.
