The Things You Can See Only When You Slow Down

Revisiting the Cape Cod

I think many artists have their favourite subjects that they would return to now and then or frequently. For me, my favourite subject is this Cape Cod house across the parking lot of our townhouse. I like it. It is a cute Cape Cod.

I met the gentleman who used to live in this Cape Cod a couple of decades ago. He told me about his ice skating adventures on the pond in the Kennett Square High School's field. The pond is no longer there because it was filled in and it is now used as sports training field. He is a native of the area, so I think it is safe to assume that he must be at least a 6th generation descendant of families who fled their enslavers in the South. Kennett Square was one of the important stops in the Underground Railroad. I think it is an oft-overlooked history of this beautiful square mile city. A little place with a rich history that is as deep as the city is wide.

It's a beautiful day in the neighbourhood. Could you be my neighbour?
